01 The little betrayals

Press-ons don’t quit. Glue does.

  1. The coffee lid. Gone.
  2. Peeling a clementine at your desk. It pinged across the room.
  3. Somewhere on the bathroom floor. Probably.
  4. The nozzle clogs. You stab it with a pin. It squirts.
  5. It’s on your fingertip. Not your nail.

None of that is the press-on’s fault. A nozzle squeezes out a bead: too thick in the middle, nothing at the edges, and a little pocket of air underneath. That pocket is where lifting starts.

02 The ritual

Paint it on. Like polish.

A brush lays down a thin, even coat from edge to edge. The press-on sits flat against your nail instead of floating on a bead of glue, and you can see exactly where the glue went.

  1. Prep

Push back your cuticles, buff the shine off, and swipe each nail with an alcohol wipe. Oil is what lets go first.

  2. Two thin coats

One on your nail, one on the back of the press-on. Thin is the whole point.

  3. Press and hold

Angle it in from the cuticle, press down to the tip, and hold firmly for thirty seconds. Do your thumbs last and give them a few extra seconds. They do the most work.

  4. Give it an hour

Keep your hands out of hot water for the first hour while the glue fully sets.

  5. Close it clean

Wipe the neck of the bottle before you put the cap back on, so the cap never glues itself shut.

A salon fill runs about $45. A box of press-ons, about $30. Nine dollars is what keeps them on.

04 The goodbye

It comes off when you want it to.

Most nail damage comes from prying, not from the glue. Take your time and let warm water do the work.

  1. Soak

Warm, soapy water with a few drops of cuticle oil, for ten to fifteen minutes.

  2. Lift from the side

Ease an orange-wood stick under the edge and rock it gently. If it resists, soak longer. Never force it.

  3. Stubborn ones: acetone

Soak your fingertips in acetone for about ten minutes, then lift.

  4. Glue on your skin

Warm, soapy water first, then acetone on a cotton pad. Roll it off. Don't peel.

  5. Oil after

Cuticle oil on every nail, and give them a day before the next set.

Plainly, about safety

This is cyanoacrylate. It bonds skin in seconds. Keep it away from your eyes and out of reach of children. If fingers stick together, soak them in warm, soapy water and gently roll them apart. Don’t pull. If it gets in your eye, rinse with water and get medical help.

If you’ve reacted to nail glue before, patch test on one nail first, or skip it.

05 Questions

Before you ask.

Will it damage my natural nails?

Not when it comes off the right way. Most nail damage comes from prying press-ons off dry. Soak first, lift gently from the side, and give your nails a day between sets.

How do I get it off?

Warm, soapy water and a little patience: soak for ten to fifteen minutes, then lift from the side with an orange-wood stick. For stubborn nails, soak your fingertips in acetone for about ten minutes. The full steps are above.

I'm sensitive to adhesives. Can I use it?

It's a cyanoacrylate glue, the same family as most nail glues. If you've reacted to nail glue before, this one is unlikely to be different, so patch test on one nail first or skip it. Either way, keep it off your skin.

Amazon has nail glue for $4. Why this one?

If a $4 tube works for you, keep using it. Most cheap glues are squeeze tubes; this one is a brush, which makes thin, even coats much easier. The three-pack works out to $9 a bottle with free shipping, and a refund if it doesn't work for you.

How long does a bottle last?

A full set uses only a few drops. Wipe the neck before closing, keep the cap tight, and store it upright somewhere cool.

Is it only for press-ons?

It works for press-ons and acrylic tips, and for a quick fix on a cracked or broken nail.

Where do you ship?

Anywhere in the US, and shipping is free.

What if it doesn't work for me?

Email hello@bestnailglue.com and we'll refund you. You don't need to send anything back.
